When I created Pavel Domains in July 2026, one thing was obvious: I did not want to experiment with French accounting on my own.
Buying and selling domain names sounds simple.
Accounting for hundreds of domain purchases, renewals, sales, expenses and VAT inside a French SASU sounds considerably less simple.
So I chose LS Compta, the accounting firm connected to the Legalstart ecosystem.
I currently pay €79 HT per month, with Pennylane included.
Why LS Compta?
The main reason was convenience.
I had already created Pavel Domains through Legalstart, so continuing with LS Compta seemed like the logical next step.
I also wanted a real accounting firm behind the software — not simply another application asking me to categorize transactions myself.
LS Compta currently describes its service as an online accounting firm with accountants based in France, while Pennylane provides the financial interface.
For a new company, I liked the idea of keeping the legal and accounting sides relatively close together.
Pennylane
So far, Pennylane is probably the most immediately useful part of the service.
Bank transactions, invoices, expenses and accounting documents can live in the same environment.
For my domain business, this matters.
A €24 domain registration looks insignificant individually.
Multiply it by hundreds of domains, add renewals, registrar invoices, subscriptions, domain sales and other business expenses and suddenly good bookkeeping stops being optional.
As Warren Buffett famously put it:
“Accounting is the language of business.”
And unfortunately, domain names do not speak accounting by themselves. 😄
What could have been smoother?
The beginning has been slower than I expected.
Pavel Domains was created in July, while the accounting relationship was only really getting started around September.
For a new entrepreneur, those first weeks are exactly when questions accumulate fastest:
- How should domain purchases be recorded?
- What happens when a domain is sold?
- How should registrar invoices from different countries be treated?
- What about VAT?
- What should be considered stock, an expense or an intangible asset?
Domain investing is not exactly the most conventional business model for an accountant.
So for me, the most important part of LS Compta will not be Pennylane.
It will be whether the human accountant understands what Pavel Domains actually does.
My opinion so far
Positive, but much too early for a final verdict.
The combination of an accounting firm and Pennylane makes sense to me, and the price is reasonable for a young company.
But accounting services should probably be judged after the difficult moments: the first VAT questions, the first domain sales, the first tax declarations and eventually the first annual accounts.
I have not reached those stages yet.
So this article is deliberately not called My Review of LS Compta.
It is My Experience With LS Compta.
And that experience has only just begun.
