Helmuts Meškonis: Building the Domain Name Community

At NDDCamp Paris 2026, I had the pleasure of meeting Helmuts Meškonis, founder of Domain Summit and one of those people whose work makes you realise how much effort is required to build a real community around domain names.

I am still a newcomer to the domain industry, so I naturally look at people like Helmuts with a certain admiration. Buying and selling domains is one thing. Building places where thousands of domain investors can meet, learn, argue, exchange experience and occasionally make deals is something completely different.

Helmuts has acquired and developed several domain-industry communities, including DNForum, AcornDomains, ConsultDomain.de and others. DNForum alone describes itself as a community of more than 45,000 domainers, while AcornDomains had accumulated more than 625,000 posts when Helmuts acquired it in 2023. In 2025, Domain Name Wire reported that his portfolio had grown to seven domain forums.

From the outside, a forum may look like a website with discussions.

From the inside, it means moderation, spam, technical problems, content, partnerships, events, difficult conversations and the daily task of convincing people to return tomorrow.

And then do it again the next day.

This is perhaps what impressed me most. Domain communities do not grow simply because somebody registered a good domain name. They grow because somebody keeps working on them when most people are not watching.

Helmuts also created Domain Summit, bringing together domain investors and professionals in different countries, and he was among the industry participants I had the chance to meet personally at NDDCamp Paris 2026.

For someone who is only beginning his own journey with Pavel Domains, meetings like this are valuable reminders that the domain industry is not only about domains.
