My birthday.
For one day, I can stop checking expiration dates, renewal invoices, transfer statuses, marketplace commissions, DNS settings, and whether someone has finally replied to my domain offer.
At least in theory.
In reality, a domain investor never completely switches off. A random word heard during a birthday conversation can suddenly sound like a valuable domain name. A business sign becomes a potential buyer. Even the birthday cake may inspire a search for Cake.md.
A Birthday Is Like a Renewal Date
A domain name must be renewed to continue existing under your control. A birthday is different: life renews us automatically, but it also reminds us that time is not unlimited.
Every year adds another registration period to our personal history.
Some years are profitable. Others are expensive experiments. Some bring successful sales, while others bring only renewal invoices and useful lessons.
But every year becomes part of the portfolio.
What I Have Built
I continue developing my domain portfolio, learning about the domain industry, documenting my experiments, and building pavel.domains as a place where I can share both successes and mistakes.
I have experimented with becoming an auto-entrepreneur in France. I am studying whether a SASU may be more suitable for my domain activity. I continue buying, renewing, transferring, evaluating, and occasionally selling domain names.
Some experiments succeed.
Some prove that an idea does not work for me.
Both results have value.
A failed experiment may cost money, but it can prevent a much more expensive mistake in the future.
More Than Domains
Domains are important to me, but they are not the most valuable names in my life.
The most valuable names belong to my family.
A strong portfolio may create financial opportunities, but a strong family gives meaning to those opportunities. Businesses can be rebuilt, domains can expire, and strategies can change. Time spent with the people we love cannot be recovered after it is lost.
That may be the most important lesson of every birthday.
My Wish for the Coming Year
For the next year of my life, I wish for health, peace, patience, clear thinking, and enough courage to continue experimenting.
I hope to:
- build a more sustainable domain business;
- improve pavel.domains article by article;
- document real domain-investing experiments;
- reduce unnecessary expenses and weak renewals;
- complete projects that have remained unfinished;
- spend more meaningful time with my family;
- and remain curious enough to keep learning.
I do not expect every domain to sell.
I do not expect every experiment to succeed.
I only hope that each year leaves me wiser than the previous one.
The Most Important Investment
Domain investors often search for undervalued digital assets.
But birthdays remind us that the most undervalued asset is usually time.
We spend hours looking for the perfect domain, negotiating a better price, or calculating a possible future return. Yet one ordinary day with family may eventually become more valuable than the best sale in our portfolio.
So, I celebrate another year of life.
Another year of domains.
Another year of mistakes, lessons, ideas, and possibilities.
